When Colin Parker first adorned the shirt of Edinburgh College of Art Football Club, I was not aware that his feet were not the only talented part of our accomplished goal scorer.

Parker specialises in furniture and bespoke carpentry for both domestic and commercial clientele. With a particularly sensitive eye for detail, palette and finish, the experienced craftsman works mainly in and around the city of Edinburgh in Scotland, however his workshop is situated in the East Lothian countryside. This rural location is a welcome departure from the industrial units of the city.

Lovely idea from Russian studio Art Lebedev for a kind of carboard, tear off disposable USB drive where you can write, draw and scribble directly onto the media itself. Maybe next we can have USB devices that self destruct after the data is read? Just a thought.

The Mast Brothers

This is a wonderful short film from The Scout about Rick and Michael Mast, who create beautifully hand crafted and homemade chocolate.

“They began their voyage in their apartment, using a homemade machine to process cacao beans. Over time they cultivated their creation, sourcing beans from family farms in Madagascar, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. Each bar is handmade with incredible reverence for the process and history of chocolate. They are bound in ornamental papers and golden foil (sometimes letter-pressed) like a collection of rare books. Each bar offers its own story of flavors, and no two are exactly alike.

The Mast Brothers are now planning to navigate the mighty Atlantic, sailing to the Dominican Republic in search of beans and a deeper connection with the folks who grow them. Before they begin the next chapter, The Scout spent time with Rick and Michael documenting their story.”

Have we featured Inventive & Co before? I don’t believe that we have. I’m especially loving their ‘Object of Desire’ project for Selfridges, where the team raided the bins of Selfridges using the rubbish they found to create sculptures of the stores best and most iconic designer products, and you know what, I would still have this Eames chair in my living room. Ghetto Chic.
